University Athletes (USA Based)

Carded athletes who are studying and competing for a university in the USA must comply with the following requirements:

- Athletes must provide a schedule outlining the competitions for the indoor and outdoor seasons, and/or cross country if applicable and indicate which meets are priority focus, secondary focus and preparation focus. This should be provided by January each year.


- Athletes are to send (via email) a bi-monthly update (which will update us on how your training and competition is going) and/or anything else that is relevant (injuries etc…)  
Level 4 athletes will send reports/updates to our 2016 Performance Manager  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. - Athletes will advise the High Performance Department of when they are returning to New Zealand for holidays. 


- On arrival back in New Zealand for holidays, the athlete should contact their assigned Performance Planner to develop a brief Performance Services Plan for the time they are present in New Zealand. Any Performance Services needed or requested will not be available without an approved plan.


- The Performance Service Plan will include the three(3) compulsory annual services (nutrition screen, muscle balance, and medical screen).


- Athletes can only use their allocated performance funding while back in New Zealand or during a championship campaign.

 

Carded athletes who have finished their university studies in the USA or permanently returning to New Zealand must comply with the following requirements:

- The athlete must communicate to Athletics New Zealand when they are planning on returning.


- On return to New Zealand the coach/athlete must submit an initial Performance Sport Plan to Athletics New Zealand (training, competitions etc…)


- Once the initial Performance Sport Plan has been submitted and approved, the athlete can meet up their assigned Performance Planner to develop a Performance Services Plan.


- A comprehensive Performance Sport Plan will be required at the next review (either September or April), depending on when the athlete returns.
